I’ve been reading a bit recently about a Standing Meditation – Hmmm.

The idea is interesting to me, so I decided to give it a try, I went to my regular Wednesday evening Meditation Group and announced my intention to break my usual sitting position and stand during our shared session.

The result:  I wasn’t inspired, as I thought I might be. I was able to get to my meditation place, but not as deeply as usual. My body awareness was heightened. I felt, at times, like I was rocking back and forth a bit, but don’t know if that is really the case.

I have not read any reviews suggesting a Standing Meditation provides anything that a Sitting Meditation does not. Therefore, I don’t know that I will try it again. I certainly understand that practice is the way to depth in meditation, but I am not motivated by my previous experience to keep trying.

I love the places I’m able to experience in my consciousness through my regular practice. So, I think I’ll probably stick to that. I am always very willing to try something new when I come across something that “speaks” to me. This is a case, though, where I’m glad I tried something new, but am not inspired to continue – yet!
